Six years ago NASA finds signs that we are indeed not alone in this galaxy. There are other life forms that are far away. Unfortunately, efforts to study other life forms is even disastrous for humans, at least those who are infected when the aircraft is supposed to investigate these life forms aground.
Spacecraft, which collected the sample is lost control and crashed on the border of Mexico and the United States. It did not take long for the contents of this aircraft to come into contact with the inhabitants of the earth. And it did not take too long for the earth's population to become infected by this unknown creature.
There is no way other than to close this area. They call Infected Zone and until now was either American or Mexican governments still have difficulty keeping these infected areas. When Andrew Kaulder (Scoot McNairy) has agreed to locate and bring back Samantha Wynden (Whitney Able), meaning they are both going through this zone.
